Magic Endoscope: the first release
There is a drawer in every trade where the cheap endoscope lives — a USB or Wi-Fi probe bought for twenty dollars, paired with a stock app that either fails to work on Android 10+ or crashes, watermarks everything, misses basic functionality, and forgets your settings between jobs. The hardware is fine. The software wastes it.
The problem runs deeper on modern hardware. USB-C endoscope support on current Android — versions 10 through 14 — was a gap many users ran into without a clear path forward. Camera permission models changed across releases. Magic Endoscope was written from the start for current Android and modern USB-C probes. No workarounds. No sideloading. Plug in and inspect.
Plug in your USB-C camera, or join a Wi-Fi probe's hotspot, and you get a live preview with a real overlay HUD: battery, frame rate, resolution and bitrate read straight off the stream. Photos and videos carry timestamp, location and on-screen measurement, so a capture is evidence rather than a blurry souvenir.
The measurement ruler is the part that reads as a trick the first time you use it: drop two handles in the frame, calibrate against a known edge, and read millimetres off a borescope feed. It is plain projective geometry under the surface — engineering inside, magic in effect. The whole app runs offline, with no account and no cloud; footage never leaves the device unless you export it.
We are actively collecting feedback from operators in two fields where inspection tools carry real consequence: mechanical maintenance and military demining — mine clearance specifically. These are environments where consumer-grade software is not adequate and where hardware-bundled proprietary viewers are not always an option. Our stated intent is to build the reference tool for professional endoscope operation on Android. That is a specific target, not a positioning phrase.
The endoscope hardware market is fragmented across dozens of manufacturers, several chipset families, and inconsistent firmware across product lines. We are building a mechanism for users to submit their specific device information for support evaluation. If your probe runs a standard UVC or MJPEG-over-Wi-Fi stream, support is usually straightforward. If it uses a proprietary protocol, we want to know. Device coverage will grow with every update.

A single $4.99 purchase lifts every limit and clears the watermark, on that device, forever. No subscription, no per-seat licensing for a shop that buys ten probes and one tablet.
This is the foundation, not the ceiling. The next systems are specified and the catalogue is built to hold them — more supported devices, deeper measurement tools, and field-proven workflow features on the roadmap. Each one ships the same way this did: finished when an operator can use it on the job.
