Magic Endoscope 1.3: inspection reports, sound in videos and a camera source switch
Magic Endoscope 1.3 is rolling out on Google Play. It adds three things: inspection reports, sound in videos, and a camera source switch on the camera screen. Everything else works as before.
Inspection reports
An inspection usually ends with someone asking what you found. Version 1.3 lets you answer with a report made on the same phone or tablet that did the inspection.
- In Inspection Media, press and hold a capture, pick the photos and videos from the job, and tap Create report.
- Give each finding a title, an observation, a next action and a priority. Add the report details: what was inspected, the date, who prepared it, the location and the customer or job.
- Adjust image crops and rotates a picture and adds arrows and numbered markers. Choose frame picks the exact video frame to use as a still.
- Check every page in the preview, then export a PDF or an editable Word file on A4 or Letter paper. Share it, save it or open it in another app; in Reports, tap an exported file to open it.
- Hidden image data such as GPS is removed from the pictures in exported files.
In Free you can create, edit and preview reports and view the pages inside the app. Pages shown in Free carry a “Magic Endoscope - FREE version” mark, and the app blocks screenshots of them. Exporting, sharing or saving report files, or opening them in other apps, needs Pro, a one-time purchase. Exported files never carry the mark. The first 10 clean captures in Free do not unlock report export.
See how inspection reports work, or download a sample report the app exported from demo pictures.
Sound in videos
A Sound switch on the camera screen records the phone’s microphone into your videos, in both Free and Pro. Sound is off until you turn it on, and the app asks for microphone access only at that point. You can switch it off and on again during a recording. Videos play with sound in the app, with a mute button. If you are updating from an earlier version, a short guide explains the switch once.
Switch cameras from the camera screen
A chip on the camera screen changes between a USB endoscope, a Wi-Fi endoscope and the phone’s own camera. It is not available while a video is recording. When the preview has a problem, a status chip on the camera screen says what kind of problem it is. The screen also stays on while the app is open; you can turn that off in Settings.
Your data
Reports are kept in the app’s private storage on your phone. We run no server for them, and nothing leaves the phone until you share or save a file yourself. The privacy policy covers sound in your videos and inspection reports.
Free still has no limit on photos or videos, and Pro is still a one-time purchase with no subscription.
